   Head out of Kirkwall to explore the East Mainland, known for its stunning landscapes and historic sites.

 

  

  Mull Head Nature Reserve, Walk along the dramatic cliffs and enjoy the breathtaking views. The Gloup, a collapsed sea cave, is a must-see natural wonder here.

  Churchill Barriers As you drive towards the barriers, stop at a viewpoint to appreciate these remarkable causeways built during WWII. Learn about their history and the role they played in protecting Scapa Flow.

   Visit the Italian Chapel on Lamb Holm, a beautiful place of worship constructed by Italian POWs during WWII. Its story and artistry make it one of Orkney’s most beloved landmarks.

   - Relax and take in the serene surroundings at Sands of Wright Beach, It’s a lovely spot for a walk, with views over the sea and plenty of birdlife.

​

  Hoxa Head where you can explore the remnants of coastal defenses from both World Wars. The area offers panoramic views over Scapa Flow, adding a historical depth to your visit.

 

Return to Kirkwall

   - After a full day of exploring, return to Kirkwall to wrap up your tour. You might want to enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants to end your day on a high note.
