Neolithic Tour

Skara Brae
Ring of Brodga
Stunning Cliffs of Orkney

Welcome to your Orkney adventure! Today, we'll be starting our journey in Kirkwall, the heart of Orkney, before venturing out to explore some of the most iconic and historic sites on the islands.

Our first stop will be the Standing Stones of Stenness, one of the oldest stone circles in Britain, dating back over 5,000 years. Here, you’ll get a sense of the deep prehistoric roots of Orkney, as you stand in awe of these ancient monoliths.

Next, we’ll visit the nearby Ring of Brodgar, a magnificent stone circle and henge that is steeped in mystery and legend. This UNESCO World Heritage site, with its impressive diameter and dramatic setting, is a must-see for any visitor to Orkney.

From there, we’ll continue to Skara Brae, the best-preserved Neolithic village in Europe. As you explore this remarkable site, you’ll step back in time to see how people lived thousands of years ago, with well-preserved stone houses and artifacts offering a glimpse into their daily lives.

Our journey then takes us to the dramatic cliffs of Yesnaby.  Here, you can take in the breathtaking coastal views, where the rugged cliffs meet the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a perfect spot for a short walk, with the possibility of seeing some of Orkney’s wildlife, including seabirds and perhaps even a glimpse of seals.

After soaking in the natural beauty of Yesnaby, we’ll make our way to the Italian Chapel on Lamb Holm. This beautifully crafted chapel was built by Italian prisoners of war during WWII and is a symbol of hope and resilience. The intricate interior and poignant history make it a highlight of any Orkney tour.

Finally, we’ll return to Kirkwall, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit the magnificent St. Magnus Cathedral. Known as the “Light of the North,” this medieval cathedral is a stunning example of Romanesque architecture. Alternatively, you can explore the charming local shops, where you’ll find unique Orkney crafts, gifts, and souvenirs to take home.
